Things and Sweeney Todd
Well noting has happened of intrest so far during winter break. Nothing at all, except finding some delicious, pink, canadian wintergreen mints that taste like pepto-bismal. (hey, you either like it or you don't) I forgot i even had a blog for a while- shame on me. It's just so easy to say "i'll work on it tommorow" or whatever. I guess i shoul just try harder, i'm sure it will get easier. The problem is is that i can't tell people about it, because in al truth i don't think that it is particularly entertaining, considering that it's about nothing. Anyway, Last week i saw Sweeney Todd at the movies and i believe that it was one of the best movies that i have ever seen. Johnny Depp was fantastic (of course). but Helena Bonham Carter realy stood out to me. I adored the way that she portrayed Mrs. Lovett. I forgot that i was even watching an actress, it seemed to me that this character had become real. (not really, but close- that was just for emphasis) Carter's singing was amazing, and included another one of my favorite things about this movie: Carter never broke character while singing. I know that ths seems like a given for any actor/actress in a movie, but her mastery of the role came across splendidly while singing. It made the character seem stronger. Another nuance that i found interesting was the downhill slide that the movie took from good to bad as Todd killed more and more people. Also, the makeup with the white faces and black underneath the actors eyes really was convining. In genera, the overall dreariness of London (even in the daytime) pulled the film together nicely. I really hope that it wins those four golden globes- the film deserves them.
